Independence Day is a day we celebrate Freedom here in the United States. It is a day when family & friends get together to remember how great it is to be free. It marks the celebrated moment when our forefathers fought off the Tyranny of England and their crippling taxation and iron-fisted rule over the people.

Sadly, today in 2006, 230 years later, a large portion of our population, an estimated 50 million people have inadvertently signed away their Freedom and Independence to a Homeowners Association. We have consented to corporate slavery.

There is only one escape, to move into older non-HOA neighborhoods, where the homes need upgrading.  Many others have agreed to be searched in airports & bus stations and train stations, and still others support allowing our Executive Branch of government to spy on Americans via phone calls, bank accounts and whatever other information gathering techniques they have acquired. Why would such a nation of Free Individuals willingly sign away their Freedom this way? Because we take our Freedom for Granted! We’ve never known the true Tyranny of a Police State, a Dictator or Martial Law. The underlying root, is Fear. 

In the Homeowner’s Association, it’s the fear of an inconsiderate neighbor, fear of cars up on blocks, fear of weeds, fear of purple paint. How did such a great Nation become so fearful of such petty things? We’re spoiled. We’ve had it so good for so long, we cannot even fathom having to exercise tolerance anymore. We willingly sign away our own Freedom while saying to ourselves:  “I maintain my lawn and like the color beige so I will sign away my Freedoms because I do not exercise them anyway, but this will ensure that one of my neighbors doesn’t dare get creative while living next door to me”.

Transplant that same attitude now with the permission & support to personal invasion via searches at the airports & ball games, no-knock warranted home invasions, phone tapping, bank records spying. All because we are afraid, that someone may do us harm somewhere. All the while never paying attention to the fact that the real harm comes, with giving up our freedom. We take our Freedom so for granted, we have become an unimaginative lazy-people who do not even bother to learn what the difference is between Freedom & Tyranny. We are doing it to ourselves.

Where is the outrage? There isn’t any. There isn’t any because people do not yet realize what they are giving up. Americans cannot even imagine the true horrors of a police state. Most citizens do not even understand that our “Constitutional Rights” only apply to government entities. Those are being systematically eliminated one by one with our consent.

If you, as an American are not outraged by the slave-labor camps being set up along the southern borders for illegal immigrants; if you are not furious by the torturous conditions that exist in Tent City here in Maricopa County; Then you’d better get very busy paying off all of your debt because we’re one step away from slave-debtors camps. Go ahead, think to yourself, I pay my bills just fine it won’t happen to me. Then review your company’s annual books & projections. Watch the Wall-Street channel. It’s a common practice for companies to boost earnings by laying-off employees. You could be next easily.

Go ahead submit to being violated at the airports & other transportation stations in the name of security. Consent to being violated at the ball games. Then remember it when they’re kicking in your door in the middle of the night, or dragging away members of your family never to be seen again.

Righteously defend the executive branch listening in on your phone calls in the name of anti-terrorism. Remember it when they haul you away without a warrant to some camp without evidence because of some inadvertent comment or joke you made while on the phone.

Every liberty you consent to sacrifice in the name of security, you consent to sacrifice forever. One day you will be the victim of some paranoid delusion, and you won’t have the right to council. You won’t have the right to remain silent. You won’t have the right to humane treatment. They will have the right to torture their perceived truth out of you. You will confess, to end the pain, whether you are guilty or not.  Because you consented to give up those rights, in the name of security, you won’t have them when you need them, or when you want them. If you consent now, there will be no dissent later.

Every Freedom you have taken for granted all of your lives, is being systematically eliminated with your consent. One day, you will look back, and you will remember the days when teen-agers wore colorful clothes and called parents the tyrants.

You will wonder to yourself, "How did it come to this”? I hope you remember it came to this with your consent, by refusing to become outraged. By refusing to demand that your Freedom & Liberty be respected. You’ll say to yourself, “Hmmm, I thought it was just the terrorists they were after”. But then you’ll be the terrorist. By virtue of independent thought.

If citizens don’t get involved, and act now to protect their rights, to demand that this government follow the laws, and insist that the constitution be upheld; then history will record that the terrorists won this war. They negated all freedom and liberty everywhere, with a few abominable acts of citizen slaughter. As the citizens consented, one by one to slavery.
